For planet earth the sun is not just any star. It is the star. As science unravels more secrets about the sun, it inevitably brings us closer to its ultimate demise. This is reported by researchers at the American space agency NASA, at the Canary Islands observatories Teide and Roque de los Muchachos, and at the hottest and coldest places on the planet.
