Curator’s Tour
The State Museum of Prehistory houses the 9,000-year-old shaman's grave from Bad Dürrenberg, a unique find in Europe. The rich collection of grave goods indicates a special social role for the deceased. Notably, the grave contains a wide variety of animal species. Ethnographic comparisons and features of the skeleton suggest that some objects were used in shamanistic rituals. This tour will place this extraordinary discovery into its cultural context.
