Dr Viola Priesemann researches propagation processes, self-organisation and information processing in both living and artificial networks. Since the COVID-19 outbreak, she has studied the spread of SARS-CoV-2, quantified the effectiveness of interventions and developed containment strategies.
Viola Priesemann is the initiator and co-author of several statements (including of the Leopoldina), Fellow of the Schiemann-Kolleg and member of the Cluster of Excellence "Multiscale Bioimaging" at the University of Göttingen. For her work on COVID, she was awarded the Communitas Prize of the Max Planck Society and the Medal for Journalism of the German Physical Society.
She works at the Max Planck Institute for Dynamics and Self-Organisation and the University of Göttingen.
