Viktor Oubaid is a senior research fellow at the German Aerospace Center (DLR) in Hamburg, Germany since 1999. He is the head of DLR Department Aviation and Space Psychology in Hamburg.
As a specialist in aerospace psychology, he is entrusted with the organisation of national and international personnel selection campaigns in the aerospace industry. He is an expert in the psychological selection of astronauts and was a core member of ESA's major selection campaigns in 2008/2009 and 2021/2022.
His scientific work focuses on job requirements in aeronautics and medicine, as well as on the development of computer-based methods for the assessment of teams and team efficiency.
He studied psychology at the University of Bielefeld (Diploma). Afterwards he worked as a doctoral student at the University of Heidelberg. He then worked as a research assistant at the University of Halle before joining DLR in 1999. He has extensive experience in managing research projects and in university teaching. His teaching focuses on aerospace psychology, psychological diagnostics and personality psychology. He also trains check pilots and flight instructors in psychological assessment and crew resource management (CRM).
Viktor Oubaid holds a diploma in psychology from the University of Bielefeld (1992) and a doctorate in psychology (Dr. phil.) from the University of Heidelberg(1997). He has been a member of the European Association of Aviation Psychologists (EAAP) since 2002 and an EAAP-certified aviation psychologist since 2007. He is also an expert in quality management and an ISO 9000 Lead Auditor.
