Professor Horstkorte (born 1961) in Remscheid, studied biology in Mainz, and Heidelberg. Further academical stations were Zurich, London and Berlin. After receiving his postdoctorate he became a professor for Physiological Chemistry at the medical faculty at Martin-Luther-University Halle. He focusses mainly on sugars on cell surfaces and their biological purposes.
