Rubén Abruña has over 25 years of experience as a documentary filmmaker in his native Puerto Rico, and in New York, Miami, and Zürich. In 2014, he completed La Casa Ausente / The Absent House about an award winning designer from the Caribbean who pioneered green architecture 30 years ago. Today he confronts the climate crisis with sustainable constructions such as a house that is completely off-the-grid with dry compost toilets, solar panels, and rain harvesters. The film has been selected in over a dozen film festivals across five continents, and continues to screen worldwide.
