Reinhold Sackmann, born in Passau in 1959, has been professor of sociology with a focus on social structure analysis at Martin Luther University Halle-Wittenberg since 2004. Following his studies, doctorate and habilitation in Bremen, he held visiting professorships in Saarbrücken, Berlin, Anchorage and Krakow. He was project leader in the DFG Collaborative Research Centers 186, 597, and 580. His more than 100 publications focus on issues of life course sociology; coping with demographic change; and mechanisms of change in the stratification system.
His current research projects focus on local social cohesion (FGZ); community education systems in peripheral social areas (Neobi); and reintegration into the labor market (Rehapro).
