Prof. Dr. Meike Piepenbring started in science as a botanist and started to discover the marvelous world of fungi during her PhD thesis in 1991. Since 2002, she works as a professor for botany and mycology at Goethe University of Frankfurt, with an interruption in 2008-2009 when she worked as guest professor at a University in Panama in collaboration with the German Academic Exchange Service. Her research focuses on plant parasitic fungi in the tropics and fungal diversity. She published more than 150 papers and wrote several books.
