Dr. Marie Elisabeth Burghardt is a specialist in ophthalmology and practices at the University Hospital in Halle (Saale) in the team of Prof. Dr. Arne Viestenz. She studied human medicine and Japanese studies at the Eberhard-Karls-University in Tübingen. After her studies she worked for one year as a research assistant at the University Hospital of Ophthalmology in Vienna before she started her clinical training in Halle (Saale).
Her research interests include glaucoma, aniridia and corneal diseases. In addition to her clinical work, she is particularly interested in eye diseases in visual artists of art history and present.
