Coordinator of Education, German Center for Astrophysics, Görlitz
Jana Bingemer is a biologist with a focus on tardigrades. While exploring the life cycle of the species Isohypsibius dastychi in 2015 she was able to observe and document the mating behavior of the tardigrades in detail for the first time. In 2017 she investigated the arrival and development of the tardigrade species on a post-mining site in connection with the environmental factors. After completing this project, she worked at the Senckenberg Museum für Naturkunde Görlitz in the field of exhibitions and education. Recently she started working at the German Center for Astrophysics as the coordinator of education. As tardigrades already have been to space, she hopes to work with them again one day!
