Isa Willinger is a documentary film director. Her debut film “Hi, AI. Liebesgeschichten aus der Zukunft” (Hi, AI. Love stories from the future) was nominated for the German Film Award and has won many awards, including the Max Ophüls Award for Best Documentary. “Plastic Fantastic” is her third feature film and premiered at the CPH:DOX film festival in Copenhagen in 2023. The film has since been screened at many international film festivals, including the Warsaw Film Festival, the Cambridge Film Festival and the Black Nights Film Festival in Tallinn.
Isa Willinger studied documentary film directing at the HFF Munich. Before that, she studied North American Studies and Slavic Studies in Berlin, New York and Prague. In addition to her film practice, Isa Willinger is also active in theory. She is the author of a monograph on the work of the Soviet-Ukrainian director Kira Muratova.
