Irja von Bernstorff is an award-winning German director, writer and producer of documentary films with a thematic focus on environmental and social issues. She has worked for ARD, ZDF, ARTE, ProSieben, NHK (Japan) and numerous NGOs. In 2013, Irja moved to Bhutan, where she became the first foreigner to produce a 25-episode series about the threatening rural exodus in Bhutan for the only Bhutanese television broadcaster BBS. The filming of this resulted in her first multi-award winning cinema documentary "The Farmer and I".
Her latest documentary GIRLS FOR FUTURE (Kinder der Klimakrise) will be presented in cooperation with the NaturVision Film Festival at the SILBERSALZ School Cinema 2023.
