Prof. Dr. H-G Döbereiner is interested in the physics of living matter. He conducts research at University of Bremen on the biological physics of cell motility. His research group investigates the dynamics of structure formation in the pulsating networks of the slime mold Physarum polycephalum. The aim is to understand the decision-making mechanisms of this amoeba when foraging. It behaves very smart without a brain, even without nerve cells.
