Dr. med. Daniel Illy
Author, lecturer, specialist in psychiatry and psychotherapy and specialist in child and adolescent and psychotherapy and adolescent psychiatry and psychotherapy
Background | I was born in Frankfurt am Main in 1985. I completed my medical studies
in Mainz and South Africa. Already during my studies I began to be interested in the treatment of mental illnesses. In addition to my work as a doctor, I completed a double training as a behavioral therapist for adults and for children and adolescents as well. I have additional training in clinical hypnosis and group therapy. Since January 2021 I have been working as a senior consultant in a child psychiatric clinic near Berlin.
Books | The books presented on this page are the result of this work and a passion for writing.
The guidebook series Help for Everyday Life is characterized by its easy to understand and the psychotherapeutic approach. In simple words I explain the respective clinical pictures and what helps best against them. The accumulation of similar questions from my patients prompted me to create the the present series. So far, this series includes books on the following topics depression, anxiety disorders, obsessive-compulsive disorders, bipolar disorders as well as video game and internet addiction.
Other books, to date a practical handbook and a therapy manual, deal with the most important topic for me at the moment: the treatment of video game and internet addiction. These books are the result of my experience in setting up of three special consultation hours and the development of a therapy concept.
Lectures | I teach prospective medical and psychological psychotherapists in behavioral therapy (adults and children/adolescents).
My main topics as a lecturer include
- Depression
- anxiety disorders
- Obsessive-compulsive disorders
- Bipolar disorders
- Video game/internet/social media addiction
