Burcin studied BSc. in Biology at Istanbul University and MSc. in Bionantotechnology at the University of Sheffield, UK. With the motivation of merging these fields, she finished her PhD in Materials Science and Engineering at Sabanci University. Her research is the design and fabrication of silicone-based composites for medical education.
