Dr. Katharina Beyerl

Dr. Katharina Beyerl holds a degree in psychology and a doctorate in geography with a special focus on environmental psychology. She deals with perceptions of the global socio-ecological crisis and motivations for implementing possible coping strategies to contribute to more sustainable lifestyles in the long term. After ten years of research at the IASS (now RIFS), she has headed the SÖF junior research group “Social, economic and ecological effects of participatory, sustainable food production” [pane], funded by the Federal Ministry of Education and Research, since 2022. The aim of the junior research group is to scientifically support solidarity-based farms in structurally weak regions of Germany in a transdisciplinary real-life laboratory approach in order to investigate social, economic and ecological effects on individuals, communities and nature and to identify ways to strengthen positive effects. The research institutions involved in the project are the Technical University of Berlin, the Research Institute for Sustainability (RIFS) and the Museum für Naturkunde Berlin.
