The two-day conference and workshop is designed to enable new connections and future collaborations between international scientists and media professionals, bridging the gulf between the two industries while also improving the media-based information transfer of scientific topics in general.
The conference has "Cyborgs: Humans & Machines" as its theme in alignment with the wider Silbersalz 18 Festival Program. The communication of scientific topics is at the core of the program and, as such, the scope of the conference is not only limited to the topic of cyborgs. Rather, "Cyborgs: Humans & Machines" provides a focus for the selection of exciting and thought-provoking case studies and examples with experts confronting the challenges of storytelling in science. These concrete examples will allow science communication to be brought to life and explored in practice, not just theory.
The contents of the program will appeal not only to scientists working within cyborg-relevant research fields, from robotics to bioengineering and media professionals interested in man-machine relationships, human augmentation and hybrid life forms, but more importantly to all scientists and media professionals who are eager to become part of a new generation employing innovative media communication methods for science.
Day 1: The conference will shed light on the latest state of development regarding the intersection of human enhancement, technology and media communication, while also addressing the strengths and weaknesses of the current relations between scientists and media professionals. Core issues will be tackled including the reciprocal requiremants of each group and what each group has to offer.
Day 2: The workshop will expand on the ideas generated by the day 1 conference and channel them into practical pitches, workshops and matchmaking exercises in order to help ignite concrete collaboratative projects and build new networks and partnerships.
