We hope for the best. Overlooked Apocalypses
A Comic Exhibition / Germany / 2024
Visions of the end of the world
The world is coming to an end - many people might think of Hollywood: spectacular explosions or a post-apocalyptic, devastated planet. Or the global climate crisis or a nuclear war. But what exactly does it mean when a world ends? And for whom does it end?
In a comic project by Burg Giebichenstein University of Art and Design and the Käte Hamburger Kolleg für Apokalyptische und Postapokalyptische Studien, which has been nominated for the Design Prize, ten artists take a look at overlooked apocalypses, hidden perspectives and the end of the world that is not so present - inspired by scientific approaches. The exhibited texts and prints are complemented by scientific perspectives developed in the seminar “Intersectional Visions of the Future” at the University of Freiburg.
