Disembodied
3-channel video installation / Marleine van der Werf / Netherlands / 2023
AI: “Living without a Body” is a 3 channel video installation that explores the perspectives of a neuro-psychiatrist, an AI and a disembodied patient on their quest to find what it means to live without a body. The AI-script, video, voice and music is generated by Artificial intelligence.
“Disembodied” is a long-term multidisciplinary research project, exploring and producing artistic experiments to understand the relationship with our human body. Where our consciousness lies and how our sense of self is generated still remains one of the biggest unsolved questions for scientists and philosophers. In our ever changing world where uploading our mind, AI and exoskeletons are the new frontiers, the multi-sensory experiments questions what it means to own a biological body. What happens when humans exist without a body? What does that mean for our sense of self?
It takes these questions as a starting point and uses an interdisciplinary approach to explore their answers. By connecting experts in the field of disembodiment and consciousness, multi-sensory experiments are developed to make our relationship with(out) the body tangible.
